Her sale ad went something like this:

10 year old, 15.3hh, has been used as a beginner horse and also a trail horse. She is very quiet. She is an excellent beginner or kids horse.

I'd already spent months looking and thought that I'd finally found an honest trainer and an honest horse. The day after I brought her home I was trying to pick out a foot she reared up and almost hit my 11 year old son. I called the trainer that day. She "couldn't believe this was happening, the horse had never acted that way before......." The two months I had this horse she never tied without setting back and trying to rear. I had wanted a solid trail horse that could ride alone or with others. I couldn't take my other horses off the property without this mare charging the fences and calling non-stop. I also couldn't take her off the property without her backing up, spinning and trying to get back. The day I finally traded her she rammed me into the gate trying to get back to the other horses.

I called the trainer two weeks after buying her and explained the situation. I never criticized her training methods I simply stated the horse wasn't safe and I wanted her to take it back and refund the purchase price. The trainer agreed to take her when she had room. I received subsequent calls from her mother telling me that it was a family business (news to me) and they would not take the horse or refund my money. She said that I had spoiled/ruined the horse in the two weeks I had her or on the trailer ride home. I also received a call from the father of the trainer telling me that I had bought a well trained well behaved horse and that it was my fault the horse had problems.

It's been a nightmare. My other horses can all be handled by my 6 year old daughter. I couldn't even let my kids near this mare. She busted lead ropes, scared my husband, freeze up when asked to trot or canter, set back being tied, no regard for my space. My claim to fame in the two months I worked with this horse was that she wouldn't walk over me anymore....until the day I traded her.

I am so disillusioned by the horse community. I have seen horses labelled as beginner that don't even have decent ground manners. And this "trainer" continues to train and advertise. It's just so discouraging.....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4380534023229200743.post-85823602451760782462011-07-25T19:26:28.047-06:002011-07-25T19:26:28.047-06:00My face is so red...that's how I worked my way...My face is so red...that's how I worked my waybthrough school...not Micaylah!mugwumphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00319060800328355056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4380534023229200743.post-56557058375161981942011-07-25T12:43:05.224-06:002011-07-25T12:43:05.224-06:00@Anonymous + Mugs:
