It ended his previous career as a breeding stallion, and it took a very long time to get any weight on him. The vets expected him to die. I am sorry you lost your guy, but you were doing everything right, at least you can feel good about the care you gave him.nagonmomnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4380534023229200743.post-74576379839936992172012-04-10T14:01:19.256-06:002012-04-10T14:01:19.256-06:00Stasha,

Even though I don't think Phoenix and I have bonded like I did with Champ, I've stopped referring to him as "my new horse". Thankfully you've got your remaining horses. And give the skinny little guy time. It'll be different but he'll prove himself to be special in his own way.

It's good that horses are so good at soaking up tears though, eh?Heidi the Hickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00639479864903922047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4380534023229200743.post-49123659101143752592012-04-09T18:51:03.869-06:002012-04-09T18:51:03.869-06:00Thanks for your kind words. Scamp, they were both vaccinated for PHF- I learned later that the vaccine is only about 75% effective. I've been told "Potomac doesn't happen around here, we're too far north", but then I read something like this.
