Apparently, he once broke a rein trying to keep Raymond from consuming a fern at the side of the trail. He describes the horse as a butt-head, but funny. It would be an awfully big coincidence if it wasn't the same horse.

Same as the above anon, by the way.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4380534023229200743.post-82561959823965851632011-01-25T21:13:14.310-07:002011-01-25T21:13:14.310-07:00Thanks for reading, everyone. He was an awesome little pony/horse.

I have to say, there's just something about having a story shared on Mugs' blog that makes you feel a little bit like a celebrity :)

Anonymous--- Raymond was a rental horse from the SoCal Hart Ranch, so it's entirely possible it's the same horse. I worked with Raymond during '03, so the timing would be about right. He had the tendency to eat grass as he went along the trail. He had a short neck, short legs, and was gray, and his name was Raymond. It would be hilarious if it was the same horse.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4380534023229200743.post-33961135943746501302011-01-24T20:14:02.570-07:002011-01-24T20:14:02.570-07:00What a fun, fun story! I had him until he passed away at 37, although he had spent the last decade or so with the family of a good friend teaching their kids the joys of handling a pony smarter than they are.Enjayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08194414685355424274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4380534023229200743.post-15637324788616437562011-01-24T12:50:32.728-07:002011-01-24T12:50:32.728-07:00I learned so much about horse personalities, not t...I learned so much about horse personalities, not to mention all other aspects of horses, when I worked for a dude string. My first job was as a wrangler when I was thirteen. Those horses were more fortunate because they only had summer jobs, so didn't get as sour. They're all such characters. My cracking up woke the dogs from their early-mid afternoon pre-walk nap.

When I was desperate to ride and didn't own a horse yet, I spent a couple of summers as a trail guide. Ultimately I couldn't bear it... most of the horses were so, defeated. Your story reminds me of the lighter hearted moments. Thank you :)Calm, Forward, Straighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08360276614916635500noreply@blogger.com
