I Hate This Commercial

This came from a horse site, that says it likes horses. This commercial is supposed to be breathtaking. I guess it was, but not how I think they intended it, at least not for me.

Here is what went through my mind as I watched it.
00:12 - Ooh, pretty, dang the gates open!
00:28 - Horse peed in the trailer again
00:42 - Ouch! Quarter crack!
01:01 - WTFis the matter with you people!
01:21 - Run Fury, Run! This is a snuff film!

How about you?
It did not make me thirsty.

  1. Incredibly bad...and a little more than borderline disturbing.

  2. This was an ad for water????

I kept waiting for "Coming to theaters soon" to scroll across the screen. I had already decided that, whatever this movie was about, I didn't want to go see it because obviously some horse was going to die.

    Marketing FAIL. Big Time.

    Thank goodness for CGI....

  3. It made me uncomfortable, not thirsty. The narrator's voice sounded off-key, and that bothered me.

  4. what. the. hell! why, in what world, did that horse have to fall in the stinking water?? and why'd they show the horse trip? and a commercial for WATER??? really?? hmmm. I agree, marketing fail.

  5. I mean, I think it's terrible marketing, but I think the horses were probably well taken care of and humanely used. Here's the "behind the scenes" https://youtu.be/SKXxOYg25zU

    Thoughts?

  7. I kept cringing and waiting for the next leg breaking run. Or let's play drown the horsie! Not enjoyable at all.

And I'm sure the horse(s) were well treated. It's just the end result was disturbing.

  8. Ha! Your commentary was hilarious, wishing we could've seen it Mystery Science Theatre style!

  9. Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but the next time I point Caspian up a hill I fully intend on saying, "RUN, FURY, RUN. THIS IS A SNUFF FILM!"

  10. Hmmm..water with dirt and horse sweat in it...not exactly appetizing. But I love that you read the Fury books too! Ever notice all the stallions (Fury, the Black, Golden Boy) all became some kid's best friend but the mare (Queen, from Beyond Rope and Fence) Never was tamed and was determined to stay wild and free.

  11. *shrug* don't really see the reason to get up in arms about it, really.

  12. "Run Fury Run! This is a snuff film!" will now live in infamy in my brain.

I did not need to see the video. I snorted reading Mugs commentary and that was good enough for me.

  14. As a farrier that was absolutely disturbing!

    Run, Fury, run... snort!

  15. Austen Gage---Can you find me some footage of them humanely dumping the horse ass first into the water?

  16. I don't think they ever dumped this horse in the water. They showed how they made the shot of him walking on the ice and he was safely on solid ground the whole time (0:22-0:38). I'm guessing the weird platform with the hole in it at 0:21 of the behind the scenes is how they got the shot of his back end falling through the ice, and the shots of him laying down on set at 0:40 are where they got him floating under water.
