Long Flipping Summer

Hi All,
I'm not gone, not dead, not anything really. Just very tired, hot and disheartened.
Sometimes life gets to be too real to do anything but sit back and watch, and it's been like that for the last few months.
The horses are fine, I'm fine, and I hope all of you are too.
I just haven't been able to sit and write for the last couple months.
Like so many of you, we've had fires, drought, and now the threat of floods. Hay prices are soaring, the heat is staggering, and in my usual way, I have to experience, assimilate, then write.
The reason most of my stories come from the past is it takes me a long time, sometimes years, to digest my experiences and have them reappear in a format I can understand, then write about.
This summer, current events, some personal, some shared by many, have overwhelmed me, and I'm all about the experience, not the writing.
I have some decent adventures coming up in the early fall and have been keeping notes and jotting down outlines for future stories. So I'm thinking I'll be back in the saddle soon, writing and sharing with you all.
In the mean time, I'm stealing away in the very early a.m. to ride when I can. The horses are willing and easy to get along with and give me brief, much needed spurts of joy.
I hope you are all doing the same.
I'm haunting the blogs, keeping up with your adventures, so don't think I'm gone. Just for once though, I've got nothing to say.

Hang in there....we'll be here waiting.

I'm riding in the morning at 7:30 to beat the heat. Now...someone just save me from the mosquitoes.

Take the time you need to rebuild, refresh yourself. Sometimes we all get to the point where we are "tapped out" and have nothing much to say. Take care of yourself!

I can relate to having times where the well runs dry and there just doesn't seem to be much worth saying. You'll be back and we'll be waiting.

Creativity is a funny thing. It can't be forced into action, it makes it's appearance when it's ready.

You'll probably tell better stories when this is over.

I'm right there with you mugs, sometimes life just happens, and there is not a damn thing we can do about it. Hang in there, and I look forward to reading your adventures as they come forward for you.

...But....But.... But.... But I thought you were here to entertain us at our beck and call! That's it. This is the final straw. I'm sorry you've brought me to this, but I'm going to have to decrease your salary by 20%.

Oh.

Wait.

You don't get paid for this. You're sharing your stories and experiences out of the goodness of your heart.

Never mind! Carry on!

Dude, you don't even owe us an explanation, although I admit it's nice not to wonder.

Here's hoping you get some real, healing morning rides. We miss you, but take all the time you need.

Gee, I think just a drought is bad enough. Getting evacuated for a fire, that should be worth a very long pause. I doubt I would have quit hyperventilating at this point. Glad you and yours are safe and well.

You and me both.

I suspect you a lot to say but need more time before you can say it. Well we can be patient. It's worth the wait.

I have been exhausted too by heat and drought. And worry. I'm grateful that's all I've got wearing me down. I started off the summer riding before 9 am but if I do two lessons a day they're at 7 & 8:30 pm so I'm not getting into the house till 10 and into bed at 11 and asleep at 12 and is it ever hard to get out of bed at 5:30 or 6 after a few weeks of that!!! Luckily it's below 40C now (I don't know how the southern US deals with whole summers of 100F) and I can ride till noon. So what I'm saying is...

Steal any time you possibly can to ride!!!!

It's good for your soul. You will write too, when you're ready.

Thank you for the update. I do get worried when bloggers fall off the face of the earth. But so long as you are on horseback, we'll know you are okay :)
Tis restful for me to, to think of someone taking those peaceful early morning rides, so thank you for taking the hit for us!
