Hi

Hey fellow bloggers.

I am back, briefly.

I have had real life intrude on my blog world with a vengeance.

For awhile I considered shutting down Mugwump Chronicles, but I miss the interaction and the story telling.

I miss my cyber friends.

So at this point I'm going to sign off until the end of the month.

Then I'm going to start posting at least once a week, even if it's a reprint from my horse page at the paper.

I'm also going to shoot for keeping up the Mouthy Mondays.

Hopefully I can build again from there.

So I'll talk to you around the first of August.

I look forward to our conversations!

Mugs.

  1. Whew! Glad to know you're ok, and not in ICU somewhere. You can always take a break you know - we'll still be here when you come back. Closing it down though? No, I wouldn't be doing that, then we'd have to come and FIND you

  2. When it comes to a decision between real life and blogging - always pick real life. It doesn't take any effort to leave you on my "blogs I follow list". We'll still be here when you get back. :) Enjoy the summer months!

  3. Glad to hear you wont be closing it down. Even if the posts are few and far between.

  4. Mugs, I have a tile I won at a Trail Trials in my kitchen - 'Kitchen closed, Mom out horsin' around.'
An occasional 'Blog Vacation - Mugs out horsin' around (somemore)'
Will let us know you are alive and not to worry.

You CAN NOT close the blog until we hear the finish of Cupcake and Tally. Actually, we never want you to close the blog, even if we only hear from you occasionally. Luvs ya gal.

  5. Sorry to hear that Real Life has butted in with such typical bad manners, but it's very good to hear from you.

I hope things can become more comfortable for you and you can come back and hang out with us more soon!

  6. Glad you're hanging with us, and I hope that even if you do decide to put the blog down, you'll leave the entries up. They contain a wealth of information that I'm very grateful you've shared!

Is there anywhere your weekly column can be read online?

  7. Wow, that was a scary sentence:

"For awhile I considered shutting down Mugwump Chronicles, but I miss the interaction and the story telling."

Well, maybe not the last part but the first part took me by surprise!

Whatever you do Mugs, stay in touch with your horsey friends, somewhere and somehow. When I moved and didn't have the horses or the friends anymore, it was a pretty dark time. But now that I've my horses back and I'm making new friends, it's looking much brighter at my house!! Do whatever it takes to maintain your sanity and we'll always be here waiting for your return. Hopefully this blog offers you some semblance of the support you offer us!

Enjoy your summer, your horses, and we will hear from you when we hear from you!! Cheers! Lynn

  10. Mugs, I hope it's a passing interruption that goes by quickly! Need to hear more stories, and ask questions to get your wise, experienced viewpoint from!

And I have some stories to share, but need to sit down and write..but too busy having adventures with Starlette!

    Best wishes!

  11. You were very much missed during your absence! I too was a little concerned if you were OK. Know that if you post once a week or once every two months, we'll pop back on check it out, and comment some more =D

I agree with wanting the ending of the Tally & Cupcake stories.

Thanks for all the posting you HAVE done... much appreciated, very educational, and your stories are great.

    =)

  12. I really appreciate the quick note.... I had myself half-convinced that you were either in a hospital, hooked up to a ventilator... orin a serial killer's freezer, chopped up in neatly labeled little baggies. I am really relieved to hear you've relatively "okay", albeit overwhelmed-- my heart goes out to you. I hope it gets easier for you, soon.

And I agree with Rikacmo-- if you do "close down" Mugwump Chronicles, can you still leave it up and running? There is a vast wealth of solid information on this site that I go back and reference from time to time and I'd be very sad to lose access to it.

Meanwhile--- take as much time as you need. We're all here supporting you from a distance.

  14. Yikes! I was getting worried that one of your current horsey crew had put you in the hospital.

Take your time and post when you can. I miss you!

  16. I know, I for one will always be here no matter how long of a break you take. Love the blog and appreciate the support you've given along the way both about writing and riding. In short, I'm a fan and hope that you'll be able to find the time again.

  17. It's amazing how we can come to genuinely care about someone we've never met...and yet here we are. I hope all is well with you and those you care about. We'll be here when and if you're ready.

  18. I know it takes a lot to keep a blog such as Mugwump Chronicles going on your part...you've put in a lot of time and effort into every one of your posts. We all appreciate it!

Summer is the hardest, for me anyhow, to find the time. I hope the break will give you renewed energy, because we'd all hate not having this great blog to come too and learn and discuss.

    Take care~Happy trails~

  19. Hey I missed you, like the others I was worried that something had happened to you. All the best with whatever is going on and please leave the blog as is. It's a brilliant work of reference and I never tire of rereading.

  20. Glad you're ok! Like so many others, I will be waiting right here when you decide to come back. I am looking forward to the end of your stories. I wanted to let you know that you have thought me a lot about training and you've changed my perspective of certain things about horses...

I now know how to recognize an extremely sensitive horse to a difficult one.

    Take care!

  21. Hi Mugs!
So glad to hear from you - like others, I'd grown a tad worried about you.
Take it easy and best wishes. I look forward to any posts you might make, but if you opt to close the site, know that your words and insight have made a big difference in the life I have with my horses.

  23. Hi Mugs, so glad to know you're ok, but very sorry real life is rearing its ugly head. Have sure missed you and hope you can return soon. I have certainly learned a lot from you, besides enjoying the heck out of your stories! Take as long as you need, we will still be here.

  24. Glad for the note, was worried. Tried to tell myself you and kidlet were sipping drinks with umbrellas somewhere lovely. Hope you both are OK. Get back when you can, and good wishes in the meantime.

  25. Hi yourself - glad it's only life that has disrupted things - hope that life gets more normal soon - don't know what we'd to without our bedtime stories (ha ha) - we's really miss you. We'll be here when you get back!!!!

  26. I hope everything is OK with you, your family including the fourlegged ones.

Take your time. We will be here when you get back.
I have due to work not had much time for the blogworld lately either. Sometimes the real world just makes its voice heard.

  27. Bloggers have short life spans- most leave eventually. Finish your cliffhangers then go. Don't bother dragging it out. It's no fun at all expecting something and not getting it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I disagree completely with the last "anoymous" comments. I consider your tales a gift, cliff-hanging and all, and if you don't get back to them...oh well, they've still been worth reading, and thank you.

Do what you need to do, come back when you can. There are plenty of us who welcome your blogging on any terms, with no sour grapes.

  31. Good Morning,
Just checked in to see if there was anything new....hope your life is on the upswing Mugs. We're all patient, but please do come back when you can.

It's been misereably hot here. Haven't been out to ride my gelding much. I think he misses that; he has taken up begging when I do his stall in the morning. Somehow I don't think that it is the treats that are what really interests him - more the company...

The horseflies have been awful, but my guy has not been bothered too badly. He is a light grey - the one that is suffering with them is the black mare - they hover over her in swarms...she is content to stand inside with some hay rather than joining the others on the gtass.

Grass has been growning well; plenty of moisture this year. That moisture nearly trashed the first cutting of hay, but the second cutting should be really nice. At least hay doesn't seem like it will be to scarce here in the midwest this winter.

Not to hijack Mug's blog, but what are the rest of you doing this summer?

  32. Gang, had a superb horse camp weekend. I have a confident, easy going, passive agressive domanant horse. Played a new game (for us) in the round pen. Took Sonny's halter off and what does he do? Mosey off to check out the grass at the edges. hmmm.

When he settle on a spot, ignoring me, I focused on it, headed there with vigor and whipped the spot. Was he suprised! The I smiled and waited for him to settle, which he did, again ignoring me. This tme, when I headed to claim the spot he roared off and was long gone when I smacked the spot, turned and smiled sunnly.
After a while of this, he came on over at a lovely swinging trot to hang with me. He figured out I OWNED the whole space.

It was very funny. I never called him. I never asked for this lovely trot. I just stood on th elatest spot I had claimed, smiling dreamily.

Whata charming game. And one I could win. Wow!

Weather in Santa Cruz, CA was cool and breezy. wonderful for a day of horse play with friends.
